El Caribe Gris, behind the scenes

My first time reading through the El Caribe Gris was overwhelming, and I ended up rereading it to try to understand it better. Since I only speak English, I read the translation one, and it was hard to grasp it and read through it smoothly.

The main idea was a tough one to find and catch on to. Within my readings, I came to the conclusion that the main idea was about Christoph Columbus and how his point of view is the only source of history we can obtain. With it being made up of the majority of his opinion and his words on what happened, the facts and timelines that we were taught were not entirely correct.

Since Christopher Columbus's perspective was used, it created a sense of misleading information and bias, leading to prejudice and warped idea of the indigenous and native cultures in today's community. The ideas that are in the El Caribe Gris make the indigenous and natives look as if they were uncivilized and more aggressive than they were.
